What you signed up for

We build a robot and take it to Myrtle Beach.

We'll have two minutes to run our robot for the judges, then explain how we built it. We'll learn the building and coding as we go.

The plan from here to January

1NovemberPick our theme. Build the robot.Open the kit, put it together, learn to drive and program it.
2DecemberBuild and test the scoop.Print our parts and props. Keep a record of what works and what needs fixing.
3Early JanuaryRehearse the run.Full two-minute runs, our display board, practice with mock judges.
★Jan 20–22Compete.Run the robot and answer the judges' questions.

Your responsibilities

What the team needs from you.

  1. 1Show up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you can't come, tell Mr. Sanchez ahead of time.
  2. 2Take turns at every job.Judges can ask any of us anything.
  3. 3Write down what we test.Record the result before changing the design.
  4. 4Help the person next to you.Show someone how to do a job you already know.
  5. 5Be able to explain our robot.Everyone needs to answer questions about how it works.

We'll rotate jobs so everyone gets time to build, drive and work on the design.

This year's challenge · every school gets the same one

Round up. Corral. Deliver.

1

Round up

Gather things that are spread out.

2

Corral

Our theme needs something to gather, a place to contain it, and a separate delivery.

One example idea: a farm. Press Start demo.

Nothing gets decided today

Next Tuesday, we vote.

We'll vote on the top ideas next Tuesday. Think about what we'd need to build for each one; you can still submit ideas before then.

Before you go: tell me one thing you're curious about, or one name idea for our team.
