Saluda Middle School · Junior Beta
Welcome to the robotics team.
Today we'll go over the competition and come up with theme ideas.
What you signed up for
We build a robot and take it to Myrtle Beach.
We'll have two minutes to run our robot for the judges, then explain how we built it. We'll learn the building and coding as we go.
The plan from here to January
Your responsibilities
What the team needs from you.
- 1Show up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you can't come, tell Mr. Sanchez ahead of time.
- 2Take turns at every job.Judges can ask any of us anything.
- 3Write down what we test.Record the result before changing the design.
- 4Help the person next to you.Show someone how to do a job you already know.
- 5Be able to explain our robot.Everyone needs to answer questions about how it works.
Jobs we rotate through
We'll rotate jobs so everyone gets time to build, drive and work on the design.
This year's challenge · every school gets the same one
Round up. Corral. Deliver.
Round up
Gather things that are spread out.
Corral
Get them into a safe, closed-in place.
Deliver
Bring something to where it's needed.
Our theme needs something to gather, a place to contain it, and a separate delivery.
The simulation can't open inside the slides on this computer.
Open it in its own tab
Ranch Rescue is an example.

Next Tuesday, we vote.
We'll vote on the top ideas next Tuesday. Think about what we'd need to build for each one; you can still submit ideas before then.
Before you go: tell me one thing you're curious about, or one name idea for our team.
